It doesn't feel absolutely and incomprehensibly broken now. My fourth serious playthrough of the game, and the first time I'm ever actually enjoying it. It's simply and significantly better in every way. The graphics, of course, are a huge improvement. I'm not getting motion sickness from the godawful frame rate, and I'm not waiting 20+ seconds to save or travel between areas. I'm playing as an adept, my old Mass Effect standby, and it's incredible how much more fun the PC version is to play. Exploring and aiming feels much better now. Pulled back the FOV to 85 (I'd prefer 90-100, but FOV affects conversations, which causes problems with geometry not loading and the camera sitting far away from the characters). It is such an immense improvement, in nearly literally every way. Playing it on PC now is like a revelation. Speaking of which, my only prior ME experience has been on 360. When Mass Effect was first announced in 2005 during Microsofts X05 conference in Amsterdam, its trailer declared: 'The developer of legendary RPGs of the past brings you a spectacular RPG of the future.' That wasnt just BioWare saying it was making a sci-fi gamewe already had Star Wars. It's not severe (98% of the time it's still 60fps), but when a dip occurs it's very noticeable. My 5870 stumbles a few times with texmod.
